Theme: More, Healthier and Safer Food: Agro-ecosystem management in a changing climate

The HAK annual workshops bring together academics, researchers, practitioners, scholars and farmers, to deliberate varied topics on the broader field of Horticulture and Food technology in Kenya, Africa and the tropics. Young scholars and practitioners benefit from dedicated training, to strengthen their scientific and technical skills. We also conduct training for farmers on basic skills in pest identification and integrated pest management.
This year’s theme– More, healthier & safer food: Agro-ecosystem management in a changing climate. We will tackle the challenges of predicted like increase pest and diseases, drought, salt stress etc. We explore climate-smart intensification approaches that enhance water use efficiency, pest and disease control and proper nutrient cycling processes that reduce impact on the environment.
The forum structure: includes keynote addresses, plenary presentations, field excursions, students training on writing skills, farmers training, laboratory and on-station visits and awards presentation.
