2017 Workshop Rationale and Theme

We are pleased to announce the 17th Workshop on Sustainable Horticultural Production in the Tropics. In this workshop papers on original research and reviews of all topics in Horticulture can be presented. Presentations in cross-cutting topics such as marketing, socio-economic and environmental issues are also welcome.

The workshop is organized into the following subthemes:

[B2]   Crop Protection and Plant Breeding

[B3]   Socio-economic and Environmental Issues

[B4]   Postharvest handling and Quality

Besides, there will be a special topic on: Strengthening theoretical research methods – systems analysis. Systems analysis refers to “a general methodology that applies a holistic perspective by taking all aspects of the situation into account, and by concentrating on the interactions between its different elements”. This approach provides a superior way of analysis problems and formulating research. The principles of systems and case studies will be covered during dedicated sessions during the workshop. This shall be done during the pre-workshop on November 27th 2017.
